The Instituut voor Briljante Mislukkingen (IvBM) is a Dutch foundation created by Paul Iske to change the way individuals, teams, and entire sectors think about failure. Instead of treating failure as something to hide, the institute positions it as a critical source of learning, innovation, and progress.
At its core, the institute collects, analyzes, and shares real-world cases of “brilliant failures”—attempts to create value that didn’t achieve the intended outcome, but still produced meaningful insights. These cases are stored in a public database and used to teach organizations how to learn smarter and innovate more effectively.
